In Latin American countries, regulatory frameworks of genetics and genetic services are often rather different from those in other countries, though there is also a wide variability within Latin America itself. Preimplantation genetic diagnosis PGD is practised though not necessarily regulated in several countries. In all other Latin American countries, it is either not permitted at all or allowed only with severe restrictions. Peru has national guidelines on the provision of abortion services in health facilities.
